1. Contact Choicemortgages who will advise you how much you may be able to borrow and how much it will cost. They can also obtain a mortgage agreement in principle (subject to status and underwriting).
  2. Register with an estate agent or visit new home developers to find the home that is right for you.
  3. Once you have found your new home, make an offer 'subject to contract' and contact choicemortgages who will process your mortgage application for you.
  4. Instruct a solicitor who will carry out searches and draw up a contract. If you are unsure who to use, we can recommend a selection of reputable firms.
  5. Your lender will arrange for a survey on your new home to ensure it is adequate security. A more comprehensive survey can be arranged if required.
  6. Once your mortgage application has been processed and a satisfactory survey report has been received, a formal mortgage offer will be issued to both you and your solicitor.
  7. Once you and your solicitor are happy to proceed you will be asked to sign the contract and pay your deposit.
  8. Your solicitor will exchange contracts and give you a completion date. Once contracts have been exchanged, you are committed to buying your new home.
  9. Completion day arrives: your solicitor will transfer the funds to the vendors' solicitors.
  10. Once the funds have been received you will be able to collect the keys and move into your new home.
